The unearthed wines are only made in exceptional years from single vineyard parcels. Grapes sourced from the De Iuliis Lovedale Road Vineyard, Lower Hunter Valley NSW.
The Touriga Naçional grape is widely grown throughout Portugal and is better known for producing fortified wines. This Hunter Valley grown example is brightly coloured with perfumed aromas of violets, spice and cherry. True medium bodied with juicy red fruit concentration and super fine tannin structure due to ageing in seasoned French oak barrels. The focus for this wine is to showcase the varietal fruit qualities, meaning zero exposure to new oak during its twelve months of ageing.
Whole berry ferment in small open fermenters, hand plunged. Cultured yeast used.
Serving suggestion – During warmer months, this wine can benefit from being cooler than room temperature or slightly fridge chilled for more enjoyment.
